And finally it begins... My summer vacation! I've got five weeks off of work and this news post is the last thing I do at work before I sign off. There haven’t been any updates on the website for some months, this is due to me being lazy on updating something and as I'm probably spending most of my vacation countryside so there probably won't be any updates coming in August on the website either.
I would like to wish Happy New Year to you all! When I look back on the year 2015, there have been many happy moments but also some sorrows. But why should we look back when we can look forward. Hopefully 2016 will be a great year for everyone! Anyway, without further ado I'll just say: Welcome to 2016!
antman.info website has gone through a major change. The first thing you'll probably notice is the new layout, but there have been plenty of other changes as well. It has been about a year and half since the previous major update and I've been working on this new version for about 2-3 weeks now. Here's a list of the main changes:
new ant favicon and logo
completely new and fully responsive layout
all HTML and CSS code rewritten
all pages are valid HTML5
added a new photo category
upgraded Fancybox from version 2.0.6 to version 2.1.5
Some changes on the server and the backend of this site have been made. First of all the site has moved to a new server. Second change is that PHP has been upgraded to a newer version on the new server. Third change is that in the same process the news script, Serendipity was upgraded from version 1.7.8 to version 2.0
I would like to wish Happy New Year to you all! As usual I was thinking of posting something clever about 2015, but couldn't think of anything really wise/clever/important enough to write here. I've thought of making some new year's resolutions and the only thing I'll promise here is that in 2015 antman.info website will go through a major facelift. The other new year's resolutions I won't be listing here since I'm sometimes really bad at keeping promises (even the ones made to myself). Anyway, without further ado I'll just say: Welcome to 2015!
Today my website antman.info reached the milestone of 500000 hits. It's rather nice that my website has had half a million visits in the 10+ years of existence. I would like to take this opportunity thank all of the people who have visited the site in the past and also give a warm welcome to the people who visit the site in the future.
These milestones have now been reached:
100000th visitor came from Netherlands on June 14th, 2007
200000th visitor came from France on February 24th, 2009
300000th visitor came from Finland on June 29th, 2010
400000th visitor came from Belgium on February 24th, 2012
500000th visitor came from Netherlands on October 5th, 2014
Today antman.info reached a new milestone as the flag counter announced that 100 different countries have visited this site. The flag counter started running on December 17, 2013 so it took about two and a half months to gather visitors from hundred different countries. The 100th country added to the list was Laos.
The whole CSS code of the antman.info website has been rewritten. Now the media queries work a lot smoother when all of the main CSS has been put to one single file instead of different CSS files for desktop and mobile views of the site. When putting all of the code into a single CSS file I also made plenty of optimizations into the code. This update doesn't affect the layout/template of the site, just makes it a bit smoother.
